Our lab studies synthetic nanoscale pores that mimic pores found in cell membranes.  In nature, these pores are used to regulate many processes, including the flow of ions across the cellular membrane.  I am currently studying the noise in the ionic current that flows through our synthetic nanopores with the goal of reducing noise associated with our ion beam fabrication techniques.
